the future of music

via ars technica

Interesting article documenting the origins of music-oriented video games*...and showing how we got to the great enjoyable fun of games like Rock Band and Guitar Hero. PaRappa the Rapper was one of the all time great games in my opinion: "You Gotta Believe!!!" I'm tempted to bust out the game right now and play it again. Intuitive, ingenious, innovative...great beats, animation, and fun. It's cool to see how far we've come.

*One line of games I think the article overlooks is the Bust A Groove series. Similar to Parappa but focused on dancing...if you combine Bust A Groove and Parappa...in many ways u take a step towards the DDR series.

Bacon of the Month Club

via Grateful Palate and Sperry [told me about it over e-mail today, but check out his blog if u like tacos and/or ramen]

I don't know about you but I LOVE me some bacon and am seriously considering joining. A different artisan bacon for each month? Does it get better than that? Could it possibly get better? Check the link for the deets.

The Walk

via ESPN TrueHoop

U gotta admit...the traveling has gotten a bit out of control in the NBA. For example, LeBron getting upset about his "crab dribble" being called a travel a little while back? Let's be honest, if u're naming a type of dribble...u've got to be traveling.

But the article does a good job of breaking it all down...and revealing how NBA refs actually call the rule. No surprise, it's not in precise alignment with the actual terms of the rule.

One opinion on the "crab dribble"

Stenciled Graffiti

via Banksy

Banksy is a graffiti artist from the UK. His true identity isn't really known (at least not by most), altho rumors run rampant. His stenciling [which not a great many do when it comes to graf] often incorporates satire based on something already present. Often times hilarious, other times just witty...he's caused his fair share of trouble, including hanging works of his own art in museums around the world, including the Louvre and MoMA in NYC. Definitely check his website out (a couple of clicks will get u to some of his art) and you can find more info on wikipedia.

also, looks like he's been up to his same old tricks recently...per hypebeast.
